I´m enrolled in a one year transformation course from level 0 to TEF/TCF exam. The course is well structured and giving you a lot of information. It goes without saying that there´s a lot of self-study needed outside of the course, however, you can always ask for a help from your teacher or study group. I spent my first 6 months of the course with Frédérique and I´m so grateful for everything I learnt in her classes. Her teaching style and positive attitude made classes easier. Even though the learning process was difficult (obviously, because it´s French), I had a lot of fun during the lessons.

TEF or TCF?How long will it take?CLB 7?Need TEF or TCF points
without the commute downtown?
Most people in Surrey who need French for Express Entry have the same three problems: no clear plan, no time to cross the bridge twice a week, and no idea how long it really takes. This program answers all three. You start from zero, in a small group near Surrey Central, and you finish exam-ready.
Six levels, then six months of exam practice. Each level is four weeks, so you always know where you are and what comes next.
Levels 1 to 3 meet in person at the Surrey City Centre Library on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. From Level 4 the same class continues live online, same teacher, same classmates.
Timed mock exams in all four sections, corrected by your teacher, so the real test centre feels like one more class.
Up to 50 extra CRS points for French: for many Surrey families that is the difference between an invitation this year and another draw missed.
Your Twelve Months, Level by Level
Months 1 to 3, in Surrey: Levels 1 to 3 at the City Centre Library. Sounds, first conversations, the habits that make French stick, face to face with a small group from your own city.
Months 4 to 6, live online: Levels 4 to 6 on Zoom with the same teacher and the same classmates. You reach B1 and can hold a real conversation.
Months 7 to 12, exam preparation: TEF Canada and TCF Canada strategies, timed practice in Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking, and mock exams with feedback until you are ready for CLB 7.
TEF/TCF Preparation - 6 Months
By this stage, you’ve mastered the French Foundations and reached a B1 level.
In the second half of the program, the focus moves entirely to the TEF/TCF exam. You train all 4 sections: Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing. Live lessons, realistic mock exams, and personal feedback build the skills and confidence you need on test day.
Mock Exams and Corrections:
- Complete practice tests for all TEF/TCF sections.
- Receive detailed corrections and feedback from experienced instructors.
Master Advanced Grammar for TEF/TCF Success:
- Plus-que-parfait, Subjunctive, Gérondif, and other key structures.
- Use grammar effectively in speaking and writing.
Expand Your Vocabulary:
- Topics like volunteering, arts, travel, health, and gastronomy.
- Idiomatic expressions to sound more fluent and natural.
Sharpen Your Comprehension Skills:
- Strategies for tackling listening and reading sections.
- Practice with authentic texts, recordings, and exercises.
Boost Your Writing Performance:
- Learn to write structured essays and responses for TEF/TCF sections.
- Practice argumentation and persuasive writing techniques.

Bonjour! I would like to thank Noelie and the Learn French team for making it possible for me to get the sufficient result of TEF exam. The profound teaching of the clé grammar end mocking tests - that is the path :)
I completed Levels 4-6 in person and have just finished 1 month of TEF/TCF Prep. My experience has been extremely positive and I would fully recommend Learn French in Vancouver. Our teacher, Maï, uses her empathy and energy to create an environment where I have felt comfortable to make mistakes and push myself. This has helped me improve my French a great deal. Maï's lessons have been fun, engaging, and she is able to adapt the level of challenge for each class member.
I'm having a great experience learning French with Camille! She is patient, knowledgeable, and explains concepts very clearly. Her TEF/TCF preparation is helpful and boosted my confidence. I recommend her to anyone serious about learning French!
Needless to say if you are doing TEF prep for the purpose of immigration you know how stressful the process can be, but I’m so lucky that Maï is my instructor. Coming into the TEF prep class I have been learning French on and off for 4 years in the past but has since not kept it up, and I enrolled in TEF prep ready to be told that I should in fact go to one of the level classes because I’m not B1, but even in the first two classes where I struggled a lot and voiced my fears to Maï, she has expressed only confidence in me and encouraged me to keep going. I’ve been kicking my ass learning French with her guidance and feedback and I’ve progressed so much in just the past 1.5 months in her class. And I truly feel like I can participate and make mistakes without fear because Maï will always correct me with kindness. I now feel like a good result in TEF is within my reach and I’m excited to update this review once I get a result
