FAQs: Your Path to Clarity

Still curious about something? Find answers to the most common questions about our TEF/TCF preparation program. Whether you’re curious about the course structure, requirements, or how it can help you achieve your goals

What level do I need to start this course?

You need at least a B1 level in French. This means you can hold a conversation, understand most written French, and express your opinions. If you’ve completed Level 6 at our school or equivalent, you’re ready. Not sure? Take our free placement test.

The score you need depends on your immigration program and CRS goals. French results are converted into Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB):

CLB 4–5: May meet minimum eligibility for some programs, but provides limited CRS points.

CLB 7: The key milestone. Significantly increases your CRS score, especially combined with English results.

CLB 8–10: Maximum language points — can make a major difference in competitive Express Entry draws.

Requirements change regularly — check the official Government of Canada website for current details.

Our programs are designed to help you reach CLB 5 (3-month track) or CLB 7 (6-month track).

The 3-month track targets CLB 5, which is sufficient for Francophone Mobility and some immigration programs. The 6-month track targets CLB 7, which maximizes your CRS points for Express Entry (up to 50+ bonus points). Most students choose the 6-month track.

Both are accepted by IRCC. Our program prepares you for both simultaneously. TEF uses a points-based system; TCF uses proficiency levels. Most students choose based on exam availability at their local test center. Read our full comparison →

Yes! If you’re on the 3-month track and decide you want to continue to CLB 7, you can extend. Talk to your teacher or contact us to adjust your enrollment.

Our students consistently achieve their target scores when they attend all classes and complete the recommended self-study. Your teachers provide personalized feedback to keep you on track.

Once you register, we do not offer any refund, please make sure that you are ready to commit to the full TEF/TCF preparation course.
