Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need to know before starting Level 6?
You should be comfortable with all major tenses — present, passé composé, imparfait, future, and conditional. You can express opinions, discuss hypothetical situations, and hold conversations about abstract topics. If you’ve completed Level 5, you’re ready. Otherwise, take our free placement test.
What is the subjunctive and why is it important?
The subjunctive expresses wishes (“I want you to…”), doubts (“I don’t think that…”), necessity (“It’s important that…”), and emotions (“I’m happy that…”). It’s the last major grammar structure in French and the one that separates intermediate from advanced speakers. It’s also heavily tested in TEF/TCF writing and speaking.
Am I ready for TEF/TCF after Level 6?
Yes — Level 6 gives you all the grammar and vocabulary foundations. After completing it, you move into our TEF/TCF Prep course, which is 100% exam-focused: strategies, mock tests, timed practice, and teacher feedback. Most students do 3 months (CLB 5) or 6 months (CLB 7) of exam prep.
What if I don't want to take TEF/TCF — is Level 6 enough?
Absolutely. Level 6 brings you to B1+ — the “independent user” level on the CEFR scale. You can travel confidently, work in a French environment, follow the news, express your opinions, and have real conversations. Some of our students finish here and continue practicing through our platform and community events.
Can I take Level 6 online?
Yes — online and in-person classes follow the exact same curriculum with the same native French teachers. Online runs via Zoom.
